| On September 12, 2007, Mayor Joseph Maestas delivered his second annual State of the City address at the Misión y Convento. Mayor Maestas began this tradition in 2006 as a means to directly inform citizens of accomplishments over the previous year and noteworthy initiatives underway. This effort represents fulfillment of a promise by the Mayor and City Council to create a more accountable and open city government. This address also allows the Mayor to demonstrate how such accomplishments and initiatives directly contribute to achieving a shared vision for the City of Espanola.
