Councilor Dennis Tim Salazar was born and raised in the beautiful Española Valley and is a member of the Salazar and Alarid families whom have lived in the Española Valley for many years. Councilor Salazar is married to Bernadette Rael-Salazar and they have two sons, Tim IV and Joshua. Councilor Salazar is the son of Bennie Alarid Salazar and the late Eutimio "Tim" Salazar III.

Councilor Salazar is a 1992 Graduate of Española Valley High School and attended Northern New Mexico College with a focus on Political Science and Criminal Justice. With a family involved in Public Service to our Valley for many years, Councilor Salazar was first elected to the Española City Council in 2004 and is currently serving his third term in office.

Salazar states: "It has been an honor to serve the constituents of our beautiful valley, doing my part in working hard to help better our community. Helping to strengthen relationships with our fellow governments and neighbors is crucial for our future. I am committed to Public Safety, helping to ensure a bright future for our youth and in helping the jewels of our Valley, which are our Senior Citizens. I first ran for this office with the belief that I want all of our children to grow up in a safer community and have more opportunity to succeed. I stand committed to helping ensure this happens during my time on the Council."

Councilor Salazar has served on many committees since being a member of the Council. He has been Chairman of the Public Safety Committee and Community Service/Development Committee in the past and has been a of the Public Works Committee, Finance Committee, Finance Board and E-911 Board. Councilor Salazar currently serves on the Public Safety Committee, Community Service/Development Committee and is a Mayoral appointed member of the New Mexico Drug Implementation Board. Salazar was also appointed by Mayor Lucero to serve on the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) Board of Directors since 2012. Councilor Salazar was reappointed by Mayor Lucero to the NCRTD Board in March, 2014 and was elected by his fellow NCRTD Board of Directors to serve as the Secretary/Treasurer since April, 2014.
