I grew up in Colorado Springs, and one thing that I enjoyed growing up was when my Dad took us biking on the towns well developed bike trails. This is also very useful for many people who just don't have access to a vehicle. It's great to be able to just get on your bike and get around on a safe well developed bike trail system.

Property crime is escalating in the City of Espanola. Police do not have sufficient man and woman power to address "nonviolent" crimes. Neighborhoods that are interested in forming a Neighborhood Watch group can prove to be a powerful deterrent to property crime. Would the police department be willing to offer a meeting on how to form a Neighborhood Watch Group?
Our neighborhood has asked Chief Jimenez and are awaiting a date to meet.

I spoke with some local folks who were living on the street a few months back before it became too cold for them, and they left. They shared with me that they were local folks, where they stayed and about how many homeless lived in the area. According to them there were about 40 to 50 people who tended to stay in and around Espanola. These particular folks, a couple, voiced that they wanted to improved there lives and situations, but admitted to an alcohol problem. It just made me curious as to why there is not a homeless shelter to help these kind of folks help themselves. There are also folks who don't have substance abuse issues who may need such a place but there are no options. Every community should have a homeless shelter.

The City receives as much as 1000 acre feet of water from the San Juan-Chama Project (Heron Lake) annually for municipal/industrial use. Only a small proportion of this water is used by the City currently, with the remainder leased back to the US Bureau of Reclamation for endangered species management in the middle Rio Grande Valley.
Why not lease this water to farmers in the Rio Chama Valley instead? We are in a 20 year drought and there are annual water shortages below Abiquiu Reservoir that threaten the survival of our 400 year old community acequias and over 500 parciantes. This would sustain our local food supply and cultural traditions. It's a good idea.

My name is Andrew Brunner. I live at 610 E Hill St here in Espanola. My two daughters and I have lived here for nearly 5 years. The speeding on E Hill St has become worse. Extremely dangerous, deadly. 80% of drivers are racing up and down East Hill St. I am requesting that speed bumps (not humps-they are useless) larger and greater number of 15mph speed limit signs, children at play signs, two cross walks with signs and the strong suggestion to double or even triple the fines for speeding. I am requesting this before more animals/pets are killed or worse, pedestrians like my daughters are hit and killed. People are driving so fast, you can't even recognize the make and model of the vehicles. This is a congested residential street being used as a race way. THIS MUST END. There are many that want this done. I had to miss the council meeting today/this evening, 09/27/22, because both of my daughters came home from school with a virus. Sincerely, Andrew N. I think it would be a good idea to turn some of these vacant and abandoned lots around town into film production sets and studios to bring more of the New Mexico film industry into the area. We need to control our own destiny in our communities around the state instead of letting others dictate to us. I think it would be a good idea to turn some of these vacant and abandoned lots around town into film production sets and studios to bring more of the New Mexico film industry into the area. We need to control our own destiny in our communities around the state instead of letting others dictate to us. There are trampolines everywhere, it's one of the only things children here have to do. A centralized trampoline acrobatics training center would be a good way to give our young something constructive to do. To actually go to a trampoline acrobatics center to learn and then to go home and practice what they learn. Then you would be able to hold competitions and give awards and make it an build community events around it.

I would really like to enjoy parks in Espanola and play a tennis match with my daughter. Keep her skills polished without having to drive to another city. I drove up to the Ranchitos parks and the courts are sadly a mess. We were pretty disappointed. I'd love to see a place, other than the high school (which gates are locked over the weekend) where we can enjoy tennis as well.
