Biography - Greg Ortega

| Councilor Greg Ortega is a lifelong resident of the Española Valley. He graduated from Española Valley High School in 1987,
and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at New Mexico State University in 1995.
Greg Ortega was elected City Councilor, District 2, in March 2010. His concerns for Española include beautifying the city, improving the public safety of the citizens, increasing the transparency of government, and enhancing the livelihood and quality of life for all of Española’s citizens with a special focus on the needs of the city’s youth and seniors.
Councilor Ortega has been employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory for the past nine years. He has previous working experience with the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government. Recently, Governor Bill Richardson appointed Councilor Ortega to the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Advisory Council.
Councilor Ortega is a member of La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada (Santa Cruz Church) and a 3rd degree member of the Espanola Valley Knights of Columbus (3314).
In his spare time, the Councilor enjoys golfing, bicycling, fishing, camping, hiking, and hunting. |
