Mayor Pro-Tem Adrianna Ortiz

Councilor Ortiz is a native of Española, born to Gary Salazar and Josephine Salazar of Ranchitos. She is married to Nathan Ortiz and has three children, Brandon (21), Kaitlyn (8) and Dylan (5).

Councilor Ortiz attended San Juan Elementary, Española Junior High and graduated from Española Valley High School in 1999. She is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, attending both UNM-Main & UNM-LA.

In addition, she is a NM Certified Public Official (awarded January 2008), NM Certified County Clerk (awarded June 2011) and NM Certified Public Supervisor (awarded June 2013), all acquired through the NMSU/New Mexico EDGE (Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the Public Sector) program. She is currently pursing certification as a NM Certified Public Manager, which is a nationally recognized professional development program for elected officials and public employees/supervisors/managers. Councilor Ortiz is also a graduate of Leadership Los Alamos, a leadership development program aimed at educating qualified individuals for leadership positions within the Los Alamos and Northern Mexico communities.

Councilor Ortiz has 15 years of local government experience and knowledge in the administration of policies, budget development and oversight, records management and election administration. She currently serves as Chief Deputy Clerk for Los Alamos County. In May 2008, she was instrumental in making Los Alamos the first County to eRecord real estate documents in New Mexico. She has been a member of and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the statewide New Mexico Association of Counties/Clerk Affiliate. In addition, she participated in the County Clerk Affiliate Legislative Committee, examining and recommending changes to state laws & procedures to the legislature.

Councilor Ortiz was elected in 2014 and has served on the Public Works and Public Safety Committees and is currently the Chair of the Finance Committee. She is a member of the New Mexico Municipal League (NMML) and has served on the NMML Resolutions and Policy Committees.

She is honored to represent her fellow citizens as a City Councilor and Mayor Pro-Tem, leveraging her government administrative experience to help build a more effective City by:

  • Continuing Economic Development and Regional Collaboration Initiatives
Continue joint meetings of governing bodies to identify/address economic development goals
  • Enhancing Recreational Facilities
Perform a needs assessment and set forth a short/long range plan to meet identified needs
  •  Engaging Citizens in the Democratic process
Evaluate/Revitalize citizen advisory boards, providing judicious advice from a citizen perspective
