The City of Espaņola is seeking to hire the following position:

JOB TITLE: Patrolman (3-Openings) - Employment Application Form for Public Safety

SALARY:

$13.50 For New Officers - Salary For Certified Officers Is DOE

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-Time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Sergeant or Lieutenant patrols assigned areas within the limits of the City of Espaņola to enforce federal and state laws, and City of Espaņola ordinances.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  1. Within the jurisdiction of the City of Espaņola limits, enforces the and ordinances by arresting violators or offenders of the law and ordinances, informs offenders or suspected criminal offenders of their legal rights, interviews witnesses, records physical conditions at the crime scene and prepares all related reports.
  2. Investigates citizens’ complaints regarding the violation of law and City Ordinances.
  3. Enforces traffic laws by issuing citations to violators.
  4. Prepares incident reports on all citations issued, arrests made, accidents, and burglaries, vandalism, and disturbances investigated.
  5. Appears and testifies in court proceedings are required.
  6. Obtains search warrants and conducts searches of premises on which criminals, evidence, contraband material is suspected to be located.
  7. Performs prisoner transports, clears other traffic hazards or obstructions that may place the community at risk, and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
TRAINING & EDUCATION:
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must possess knowledge of law enforcement procedures.
  3. Must possess certification from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy or get certified within a year from hire.
  4. Must possess a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  2. Must be alcohol and illegal drug free and pass a drug test
