Fire Department Awareness Day

This day consisted of inviting the City Councilors, Department heads and any other city dignitaries that would like to attend to a workshop highlighting what we as firefighters go through during different incidents. The day started with an overview of events stressing safety, procedures and a brief training session. Events planned consisted of a rescue drill, hose operations, step test (modified), HazMat Operation and vehicle extrication. Following the “experience ” the department hosted a BBQ for all participants and department personnel. Members of the department took charge of a certain event and planned their exercise so that the participant gets the most out of it. I sincerely think this was a fun event for all and gave those who attended a greater awareness and appreciation of what their Fire Department is capable of.
