Española Participates in Great American Clean-Up Day

At it’s October 10, 2006 City Council meeting, Mayor Maestas and the City Council proudly proclaimed the second Saturday of each October as “Clean up Española Day. ” This proclamation was passed in support of keeping Española beautiful as well as free of litter and graffiti. Each year, the Amantes de Flores Garden Club has strived to keep the City beautiful by organizing the annual clean-up day. This year was no different! People from across the community, including those from a host of local companies, including Delancey Street Movers, Wells Fargo Bank, Valley National Bank, Lowes, SuperSave, The Española Valley Board of Realtors, as well as many other organizations such as The City of Española , the North Central Solid Waste Authority, The Española Municipal Court, the Española Military Academy and more all came together to spread out across the City with trash bags in hand and get rid of the litter! While it was no easy job, these volunteers spent more than four hours hiking and picking up trash along Española ’s roadsides. Thanks to everyone who participated -- you really made a difference in your community!
