Espaņola Mayor Joseph Maestas Elected President of the Municipal League

Espaņola Mayor Joseph Maestas was elected President of the New Mexico Municipal League on August 31 in Taos during the League’s 49th Annual Conference. He had previously served as Treasurer, Vice President and President-Elect of the organization. Las Vegas Municipal Judge Eddie A. Trujillo was elected President-Elect, Las Cruces Mayor Pro Tem Dolores Connor was elected Vice President and Taos Ski Valley Mayor Pro Tem Barb Wiard was elected Treasurer. Deming Councilor Linda Enis was elected as Director-At-Large while Roswell Councilor Steve Henderson and Las Cruces Councilor Dolores Archuleta were re-elected as At-Large Directors. The new officers and directors will assume their positions October 1. The Municipal League is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that represents all 102 incorporated municipalities in the state. This year’s conference in Taos attracted more than 800 people, making it one of the largest gatherings in the League’s history. The League is headquartered in Santa Fe.
